Because yoga isn't just about what happens on the mat....

Hi I'm Sarah, I began attending yoga classes in 2006 when I was pregnant with my oldest son.  Even amongst the busyness of family life. I have continued to practice yoga regularly ever since, because I know it makes me feel good and it helps make me a better person.  Yoga has so much to offer all of us, no matter what challenges we face in life.  I love that fact that the more I learn about yoga, the more I realise I have to learn.

Having studied Chemical Engineering at the University of Canterbury, my scientific mind became more and more interested in understanding "how yoga worked" and so in 2012, I decided to do my yoga teacher training to deepen my knowledge and understanding of yoga.  I completed my yoga teacher training in 2014 through the International Yoga Teachers Association (NZ).  I am still fascinated by learning about "how yoga works" and I have continued training to develop my knowledge and experience of yoga.  I have been teaching yoga classes since 2013 and this allows me to share what I have learnt through my training and personal experience in both sport and yoga.  I started RunYoga in 2016 to allow me to focus on teaching yoga for runners and to share my journey and passion for yoga and running with others.  In 2018 I started Yoga Rotorua to help build a strong yoga community in Rotorua, so that we can offer the benefits of yoga to a wider range of people.

As part of my engineering degree, I studied Environmental Engineering and I have worked in a wide range of different industries including the petrochemical and water industry.  Ever since I was a child I have been passionate about the environment and the outdoors.  I love digging deeper to find out more about where things come from and how they work.  When I look around me I am concerned about the future of the planet that our children will inherit.  Yoga encourages us to care for ourselves, those around us and our environment and give us the tools to support us on this journey.  By promoting the benefits of yoga more widely, I hope that I can go some way towards making the world a better place.

My ultimate goal is to offer more sustainable yoga clothing and equipment, which fully aligns with yoga philsophy.  By purchasing this clothing you are supporting me on that journey.
